Nutrition - The Medicine of the Future
"Let food be thy medicine and let thy medicine be thy food"
--Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine (460-377 B.C.)
As we've depleted our soils, contaminated our waters and our air, degraded our food supply, and mistreated our bodies, we have created much of the disease that now plagues our lives.
As evidence continues to grow, we find that traditional medicine is not adequately helping with chronic degenerative diseases and the overall malaise affecting many people today.
"The Doctor of the future will give no drugs, but will interest patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease."
-- Thomas Edison
How can I eat healthy????
* Don't skip meals. * Eat real unprocessed foods. * Get familiar with the foods that are compatible with your blood type. * Eat as much whole "live foods" as possible. (Remember that cooked, fried, microwaved, or frozen foods are "dead" and have no enzymes.) * Eat balanced meals. * Choose a protein as the main nutrient of your meal. (A good portion would be one that is about the same size as the flat part of your hand) * Add two healthy carbs such as non-starchy veggies, each the same portion size as your protein. * Add healthy fats. * Eat healthy snacks. * Eat solid foods. ie. a fresh fruit is much better than fruit juice. * Drink enough clean purified water. A good rule of thumb is to take your weight in pounds, divide by two. It is best to drink your water a half hour before meals or two hours later to avoid diluting gastric juices and enzymes needed to assure good digestion. * Avoid:
1. Nicotine 2. Refined sugar 3. Artificial sweeteners 4. Ilicit drugs 5. MSG, preservatives 6. Fake fats
